A romantic thriller about the battle of good versus evil.

The release of “Real Magic” marks the debut of Brian as a novelist. Also a writer of short stories, songs and poetry, Brian resides in sunny Central Florida with his wife of twenty years Diane. “Real Magic” began as a serial for a group of friends who were so enthralled and enthused they strongly encouraged Brian to turn the raw draft into a full-length novel. 92,000 words later “Real Magic” is now an intriguing thriller about a romance between a woman threatened by mysterious forces and the man who tries to help her. That man is plagued by troubles of his own, but when they join forces together, sparks literally fly.

Written for a discerning adult audience, “Real Magic” contains realistic sexual encounters, some violence, family troubles and lots of magic set against a backdrop of busy city life. “Real Magic” is a gripping and fast paced story that grabs your attention from the very first page and steadily builds tension with each shock and twist until the breathtaking conclusion. You won’t be able to put “Real Magic” down.

demon night has fallen down~~
black curtain circles drawn~~
royal color breathed its last~~
slate cracked has grown strong~~
three have come middle gone~~
seek the heart glowing flame~~
icy grip forever white~~
flowing crimson carbon sheen~~
shatter the portal in this time~~
or all shall die in darkness~~

Chapter One

Friday Morning

He had always believed that the expression, seeing stars, was merely a metaphor, but lying here on his back on the cold, wet concrete brought a unique perspective to those words. “Of all the times for this to happen! What else on earth could possibly go wrong?” he growled under his breath.
“Why don’t you watch where you’re going,” shrilled a high-pitched voice. “It’s not like you could actually miss me!”
“My apologies, young lady,” he said with a grimace as he eased himself carefully upright. “I’ll make sure that I’m on the lookout next time for you…” His voice trailed off uncertainly as, from the vantage point of the sidewalk, he stared up at the most unlikely looking woman he’d ever had the pleasure of meeting.
“What are you staring at? Never seen a pair of tits before?” she muttered all the while rocking frantically back and forth on her toes.
He thought she looked frightened and ready to bolt at any second. “Well, actually, no; I mean yes, I’ve seen them before. I mean not yours, those I haven’t seen.” He rubbed the back of his head briskly and started over. “Look Miss, I was actually focused on your hair. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that shade of, what is it, auburn… russet?”
“It’s called Salamander Burnt Sienna and it matches my purple eyes, thank you very much,” she sniffed caustically.
“I see,” he said dubiously, but he couldn’t resist adding. “Well, it’s certainly very fetching and it does match your blouse and floral skirt.”
She blushed delicately and looking down at her feet, asked him timidly, “Is there anything I can do to help?”
“Yes there is, if you wouldn’t mind giving me a hand collecting my briefcase, which seems to have vomited its contents all over the place.”

Thus begins a love story between a man and a woman. Nothing exciting here… except for the exes, family troubles, some violence, lots of erotic sex and don’t forget, magic. Most of all though, this is a story about the constant battle of good versus evil.

Back in May 2007, I dedicated myself to finishing the raw draft of ‘Real Magic’. This single post was up for 30 days and is called“‘Real Magic’, The Return”. It contains an additional two chapters of the book and daily comments from me about my progress in writing the novel.

I finished the raw draft on June 2nd, 2007.
