Rockin’ Chair Writers Prompt #3

July 18, 2008

Dear Diane,

Today, July 18th, 2008 is a very special day for me. Twenty-one years ago on Saturday July 18th, 1987 we exchanged our vows and became husband and wife. Not without misadventures of course and that beautiful sunny day set the pattern for our life together; no matter the obstacle we have always found a way to survive. What sticks out most in my mind about our wedding day is the sheer innocence I felt. Nothing could have prepared me for the rush of emotions and tenderness that washed over me as we recited the sacred words bonding us together. What before was only a ritual witnessed from afar was now a life altering event that would last forever. You in your white lace tea dress and me in a loose fitting suit stood in front of the Justice of the Peace. No friends, no family, just the three of us, a bouquet of flowers and God heard the quaver in my voice and the joy in yours. The world melted away when I gazed in your blue eyes that revealed the adoration and love you expressed for this tall lanky man who had won your heart. Now twenty-one short years later, that love has grown ever deeper and our bond ever stronger. We have made a wonderful life out of such promising beginnings and on this most special of days, I say to you Diane, that I love you to the very depths of my soul.

Love

Brian

For all previous prompts click here.

Each week there will be two prompts for the Rockin’ Chair Writers. Prompt A will always be the same each week. It’s for those of you who want an optional prompt not a specific prompt. As such, any creative theme is welcome whether it be a poem, a video, a painting, an audio clip; anything is welcome here. Prompt B will be specific instructions about a topic of interest and again, any media is welcome to fulfill the prompt. You see I don’t believe that ‘writing’ only takes place in words on paper or a computer. Writing is a state of mind when you capture an image and bring it to life. When you post something on your blog, bring it to life for us. It doesn’t even have to be fresh. If you want to dust off something from the attic archives, please do.

Each week at 12:07 am East Coast time in the United States, the new post will be published. (Provided WordPress doesn’t forget.)

*****************************************************************************************************************

Prompt A is: “Tell us what’s really on your mind.”

Prompt B is: “What days in your life will you always remember and why?”

The Only Rules:

  1. Express from your heart.
  2. All prompts are optional.
  3. Leave your permalink as a comment.

Y’all come back now, ya hear.

Brian, this is beautiful, however I feel as though I have been reading Diane’s private correspondence. Does she know you are sharing this with the world? (Not that we don’t already know how much you love her, but sometimes a woman likes to savor things as hers alone.)

Thank you Quill for your concern, but Diane read this letter before it was posted. Everything I write about her she reads and approves before the world sees it.

Every time I am prone to using an adage, I think of my mother. And in thinking of her, memories of conversations revolving around those simple, life-learning adages fill me with much love and laughter. Those are the days I remember.

    Morsels of Wisdom

And congratulations…your letter to the love of your life tugs at the heart. How beautiful. May the two of you have many, many, many more.
