For some reason her covered up by our government death really affected me beyond rational thinking. She’s just one raped and dead girl put she puts a human face on what’s happening in Iraq. To our own troops.
Every place I looked just verified the info and I don’t get why it’s not being picked up by the media. Her father is a doctor. We will probably have a Black president. Yet I can’t help but feel that were she white this would be front and center everywhere. I can’t remember the name of the woman who was hurt and supposed to be a hero but turned out not to be. Think the media is scared of going down that road. But this is different.
She can’t speak for herself. We can.

One day, I am going to be so scared, rather than hiding behind it, I will do something intelligent (or stupid, one) to stop what is causing that fear. And that, in itself is scary, because, I truly mean it, but I am not truly sure how to prevent others from being so cruel and plain ignorant. It seems like every time I start having faith in mankind, something happens to make it feel hopeless.
