When fate met music

This week at Totally Optional Prompts it is time to mix things up with ‘Tempo’.

“Days when even drinking didn’t help”

flat
on
my
back… the filthy ceiling fan
wobbled overhead, the drone of
mosquitoes and netting

darned too often to care, sewn up with whatever
was handy, dental floss and rum dancing in liver
… ohhhhhhh…
eyes avoid the mirror, cracked by a .38 and jealousy, she
flat
on
her
back… baleful look below, even now, it stirs to life, erect
un-re-pent-ant bastard… I’d slice the damn thing off if it didn’t feel so
good to stroke and squeeze

slowly and carefully rising, the room spins in mockery, hurling…
what’s the use, the three-day stubble covers the scars…
dirt covers their graves… cheat me?  no… no…

NO! Get away from me! Leave me alone! STOP haunting me! You made me do it, over and over again, you never stopped, you pushed and pushed and wouldn’t stop, why didn’t you stop? I needed you, you were everything to me, why? Why did you make me…

I loved you… I loved you… bed creaks, the oily steel of the barrel meets rotted teeth…

and wins.

    LOL, Ann.

    Good job, again, Brian.

    Hey Brian…

    Great Job… talented!

Yeah… I am not the avid blogger I once was. The kids are keeping me very busy and so is my job. I am really no longer singing… I have no time anymore. Our band broke up a few months before I found out I was pregnant with Carter. So… it’s been about 2 years since I have performed. BUT… the bright side is… I am a mommy with 2 beautiful boys. We actually have our on little band. Will plays the guitar and Carter bangs the pots and pans… and I sing “The Itzy Bitzy Spider” and other great kid songs… it’s fun! :)

Hope all is well with you! Take care!

Also wanted to mention that in the last two nights have had four dreams about snow falling. According to sources, falling snow dreams are considered to be good luck.

Now that was powerful – and the last line perfect.
    Excellent!

I like the word placement in this. It sems to add to the scene. Very cool!

The “flat on my/her back” snippets are fabulous breaks in tempo. The ending was stunning. A very powerful piece Brian! :)

Imagery to wrap a story in. Like it.

Anthony, you see, I do have things to write about darkness.

Linda, the change in tempo is the placement and best read slowly.

    Sweet, hot enough for you?

Texas, thank you very much. I like this poem.

    Gautami.

    Welcome Alan and thank you.

I like how you played with tempo in this, Brian. I also like your descriptions and imagery. I can shut my eyes and see everything in your poem.
