    http://hummingbunny.wordpress.com/2008/07/04/july-4th-writers-prompt/

I have come up with a name for the weekly Friday prompts. “Rockin’ Chair Writers” I will explain next Friday July 11th and I’ve already created the next prompts. Each Friday the new post will be published automatically at 12:07 am East Coast U.S. time. That is 9:07 pm Thursday on the West Coast of the U.S. and 6:07 am in most of Europe and 8:07 am in India.

The prompts will be hosted on this blog, I have no desire to create yet another blog and since I seldom post on the weekends, that shouldn’t be an issue. All prompts will continue in the spirit of the Writers Island in that all links are welcome no matter the topic. Creativity and a passion for exploration are the only passports needed to sit in the “Rockin’ Chair”. I hope to see y’all next Friday and every Friday.

“Each week there will be two prompts for the Rockin’ Chair Writers. Prompt A will always be the same each week. It’s for those of you who want an optional prompt not a specific prompt. As such, any creative theme is welcome whether it be a poem, a video, a painting, an audio clip; anything is welcome here. Prompt B will be specific instructions about a topic of interest and again, any media is welcome to fulfill the prompt. You see I don’t believe that ‘writing’ only takes place in words on paper or a computer. Writing is a state of mind when you capture an image and bring it to life. When you post something on your blog, bring it to life for us. It doesn’t even have to be fresh. If you want to dust off something from the attic archives, please do.”

I like “Rockin’ Chair Writers,” and I like your definition of writing.

The above poem reminds me of the many buildings that convey haughtiness. It intrigues me the way spaces can reflect our own spirit.

I agree with Sandy. There are some buildings that I can’t ever feel comfortable in. Thanks for the photo and the poem.

  4. 2008 July 6

you should have stayed chez moi ;)

The third floor window seems to give an isolated view reserved for visitors; to emptiness beyond.

Un balcon au soleil, c’est un luxe!
Haughty windows indeed (so many of them in Paris too)

I didn’t know you speak French Brian. Nice haiku. Rockin’Chair sounds fun.:) HUGS

  8. 2008 July 6

Haughty windows! That’s called personification, a figure of speech! Wonderful, Brian! :)

Rocking Chair Writers sounds interesting (great name). I like your poem and enjoyed the mix of French and English, especially since this is the second time this weekend the French from my prehistoric youth has risen up to meet me from the dim past.

Looks a bit crowded, which is appealing to me.

There’s a certain comfort in this. Some buildings – some streets – can just seem protective.

Good Monday morning everyone, I hope y’all had a great weekend. We did that’s for sure. Rose spent most of the weekend in charge working on her book. If you’ve read her latest post about the literary agent query letter she is sending out this week, then you’ll know what she was working on this weekend. Rose edited her “Knickers” draft three more times and finished her proposal for the non-fiction book. Lots of other stuff as well, but we’re very excited about her book.

Speaking of writing, many of you seem excited as well about the Rockin’ Chair Writers prompts that will be posted on this blog every Friday. I’ve already created prompts for the next three weeks of July and depending on the responses, I’ll adjust as needed for August. My vision for the Friday prompts is to create a sense that we’re sitting on the porch swapping tales.

Sandy, thanks and I hope to see you Friday.

Pam, buildings are very interesting and this hotel we stayed in was very nice.

    (((((Ann))))

    We will next time.

The other Ann, it was in fact a very busy street with lots of antique stores.

Natalie, that is the impression a visitor receives.

Tammy, that’s Bernard that took French. ;)

Thank you Maryt, windows of the soul and all that jazz.

Raven, I do hope you return then on Friday to sit in the Rockin’ Chair.

    Kila, very, very crowded.

Anthony, the comfort of commerce and wealth.

    ((((((DB)))))

    Hugz to you.

I really like that last line-the idea of haughty windows (even though that may not be what you meant) rings true for me.

  15. 2008 July 7

    Haughty windows, particularement en France!

  16. 2008 July 7

Great mix of eng and french……..inspired on your recent trip *wink*. Nice one.

  17. 2008 July 7

you have captured france well… yes look forward to participating brian…

  18. 2008 July 7

    That is a great post!

  19. 2008 July 8

Interesting – never been to France – this would be uncomfortable for me, as I enjoy wide open spaces – and trees… I can’t imagine a window being haughty – gives me a sensation I don’t have a word for. Nicely done.

I’ll have to visit on Friday. :)

    Twitches, that’s exactly what I meant. ;)

Crafty, indeed, although the shopkeepers wanted our euros.

Jo, recent and hopefully a return visit next year.

Piece, so glad to have you on board.

    Thank you Michael.

Texas, parts of France are as wide open as you could want. Watch the Tour de France on VERSUS channel and you’ll see.

    Gautami, you are most welcome.

Hey! I left a comment here the other day! Argh! I can’t recreate it, because I can’t remember what I said. Something about loving windows and picking a house open and airy with it’s face to the sky. Whatever. Pft.

  23. 2008 July 9

Never saw it Quill, even it got spammed, but I check every spam comment.

  24. 2008 July 9

This is really wonderful! I enjoyed every line.

I enjoyed my visit today; enjoying the photos; and your macro shots are just lovely.
