Concerned Citizen

2008 January 2

Totally Optional Prompts has a very intriguing prompt for this week. “Poem To The Editor” ask that you write a poem to a local newspaper.

Over at Cafe Writing the January prompts are up. Option #2 is to use at least three of the following words.

breathless, change, elusive, pensive, reflect, surge, tide, vibrant

“Searching for Meaning”

Dear Editor,

It pains me so to see such sloth, the breathless charges,
the reckless nature of our culture.
Tide waits for no one and change will come, wither we will or will
not reflect.
Not for us in this time, can leisure be all there is, for we have much
that is elusive and faint.
Pensive moments have led down haunted paths, no longer
vibrant, but weak and stumbling.
It is now, now that all concerned citizens
should surge and
demand, demand that
the bread remain
free and
the Circus remain
bloody.
It
is
our
right.

Sincerely,

Brian

hmmm…. interesting! I love the way
you weave the words, but sorry Brian,
I don’t believe we have any rights
no matter what our governments/circus say ;)

    Moleman permalink

That was pretty good. Flowed amazingly from where I stood.

  12. 2008 January 2

Good job. And extra credit points for using all the words :)

Very good use of the words for this prompts. They fit!

Mine is a true account. I did write to the local papers and the deed was done!

  14. 2008 January 3

Hey Moleman, welcome back. Thanks. :)

Kila, I couldn’t resist. Not using all the words would be too hard.

Gautami, I didn’t send this in. It’s too weird. ;)

It’s cold this morning. It got to freezing at the house and about 28 degrees here at work with a wind chill in the teens. The high today will be in the low 50’s and each successive day will be warmer. The forecast by Tuesday will be back in the 80’s.

  15. 2008 January 3

Good account – send it – it’s not that weird, at all!

A delicious post! I love the fervor of the statement, the grit of the emotions behind it.

    Excellent work!

    A good read; very creative!

    I should do a poem in a letter-format.

Hullo dear friend! I hope you are well and that all the gang are well, too. I’ve been super sick and I’m just now getting back to sorta normal. Oh well, just wanted to stop in and say hello and let you know that I’m thinking about you.

    HUG!

  19. 2008 January 4

Good morning everyone. Warming up into the 60’s today.:D

Hi Tumble, thanks but it’s much too weird for my paper.

Thank you Eric, would make a good song.

Welcome A~Lotus. Different formats are nice to try.

    ((((((Pinky)))))

So sorry you’ve been sick. We’re going down to Madd’s this weekend.
