“You are Never Alone”

” Alone”

she’d gone away from me one day
that sense of friendship vanished
I wasn’t worried at first
life happens to us all

she didn’t return as I waited
looking around found nothing there
a black void where once was love
my soul grew troubled each passing day

she came back and told me why
shamed and lonely was she now
thought that I could never see
all the pain that was inside

trusting in me she talked
we shared laughs and tears
she opened a channel to me
sent all my love and warmth

you are never alone
we walk by your side
with love and caring
our gifts are yours

This poem is for a friend that I love deeply. She has issues with trust, well who doesn’t, but my strength is disconcerting to her. She is used to being alone in pain. Stoic. But her friends are there for her, and that is more painful than any physical ailment. She needs to understand that she is worth every bit of love and compassion that I can offer. We agreed that a channel will stay open now between us all the time, but if she needs to close down, it’s all right, just let me know. There are no expections from me, I just want her to know that I recieve as much back from her as I give. I only make one type of friend, and that is a life friend.

To my life friend, I love you. All my healing energy I give to you as a gift freely offered.

You are beautiful. I have read this over and over and will most likely print it out so that I can be reminded of such true and strong words. My love, my trust, my friend.

    Hi again Brian,

I thought I’d check out some of your poetry, rather than the novel (sorry – not quite enough time to immerse myself at present… still have to do more taxi-ing for the kids tonight)

Oh. This one was lovely. But not just the poem. It was the words that went with it that were just as moving. I think your friend will know how good a friend she has in you, even when she’s having ‘time out’.

And, in that time away, just the knowledge that she has such a good friend will surely be enough to get through to the other side of the dark time…
